Tech-savvy yet traditional—that was the charter handed to WillowTree Apps by the University of Virginia. UVA wanted apps that would create an engaging mobile experience for students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni, and wanted them to be “uniquely UVA” These broad-ranging constituents have different needs and interests, so WillowTree’s challenge was to deliver apps that could adapt to user needs while delivering the UVA brand on mobile devices.
WillowTree engaged with constituents across campus in an extensive needs assessment before delivering mobile apps for iOS and Android.
The results would have made Thomas Jefferson proud – right down to a feature that plays the fight song. Other tech-savvy features included augmented reality for a GPS-enabled campus touring ability.
